This series contains microfiche copies of minutes recorded by the Women's Missionary Federation (WMF) of the American Lutheran Church (ALC) from 1931-1960. These minutes were generated as a result of meetings conducted by the executive committee, executive board, and general conventions of the WMF. There are also minutes from special meetings called regarding, for example, financial issues, but these special meetings do not appear to be many. Minutes include a record of those in attendance, resolutions offered, actions taken on a variety of administrative issues, reports on the federation's finances, as well as programs administered and projects undertaken by the federation. Although there are two copies of these minutes, it should not be assumed that they are duplicate copies. It would be advisable to consult the two copies to ascertain whether or not minutes from a particular meeting exist. In addition to the microfiche positives for the series, there are also two sets of corresponding negatives. There are no paper records for these minutes at the ELCA Archives. Records are arranged chronologically.

The ALC met as a delegate body biennially in October, the time and place of which was determined by the president and Board of Trustees. All boards and standing committees sent their reports to the president at least sixty days before the convention, so that he could have them printed and sent to the delegates twenty days before the biennial meeting.
